VOCPhone for Contractors

Every ring is a decision: stop work, or lose the next job.

You are the estimator, the crew, the accounts department and the switchboard. The phone does not care which hat you are wearing. It rings while you are under a sink, and the caller has two more numbers to try.

Said out loud in every ute

You have said at least four of these this month

These are the structural problem of being very good at a trade and also being the only person who can answer a phone.

01

Stopping work costs more than the call

Down tools, wash hands, find the phone, lose your place. Six times a day and you have lost an hour and all your rhythm, mostly to price shoppers.

The agent screens and qualifies, so you are only interrupted for real work.
02

Your mobile is your business number

It rings at 9pm on a Sunday and while you are at your kid's game, and there is no way to turn the business off without turning your phone off.

A real business number with hours, so after hours reaches the agent.
03

You are quoting from memory

The details come from a call you half heard on a roof. By the time you write the quote the specifics have become approximate, and approximate quotes lose money.

Recording and transcript on every call, so the brief is exact.
04

Nobody covers for you

Take a week off and the business stops answering. Get sick and the phone becomes a list of people you have disappointed.

The agent keeps answering and booking while you are away.
05

Callbacks are a second unpaid job

Every missed call becomes a task, and every task becomes phone tag with someone who is also at work.

Most enquiries finish on the first call, so there is nothing to chase.
06

You cannot tell which advertising works

You spend on listings and local ads with no idea how many calls each produced, because the ones that mattered were never answered.

Every call logged and summarised, so you can see what your spend buys.
Watch one get saved

7:20pm. You are at dinner. The job gets booked.

This is the call that used to ring out. Here it is answered by a VOCPhone AI phone agent, from what you told it about your business.

It sounds like it is from here. Genuine Australian accents, not a call centre and not a robot reading a script.
It knows your rates and your area. Call out fees, service area, what you cover and what you would rather refer on.
It books into your diary. Not a message. An actual slot, confirmed by SMS while the caller is still on.
It knows what is urgent. A burst pipe gets your mobile. A quote for next month gets a booking and a good night's sleep.

AgentGood evening, thanks for calling. What can I help with tonight?
CallerMy hot water has gone. Is there anyone who can come out tomorrow?
AgentI can get you booked in. Whereabouts are you, and is it electric or gas?
CallerRyde, and it is electric. Nothing hot at all.
AgentRyde is well inside our area. There is a slot between eight and ten tomorrow. The call out is ninety five dollars and it comes off the job if you go ahead.
CallerThat is fine, book it in. Name is Priya.
AgentBooked, Priya. I have texted you the window, the call out fee and the technician's name so you know who is coming.
What happened while your phone was in a jacket
  • Job booked into tomorrow's first slot, not just a message
  • Call out fee disclosed and accepted up front
  • Confirmation SMS sent from your business number
  • Job, address and fault summary in your system before breakfast
The maths nobody does

The cheapest employee you will ever hire is the one who answers

A contractor's biggest cost is not tools or fuel. It is the work that walked because nobody was free to say yes. It appears on no invoice, which is exactly why it never gets fixed.

1Urgent work goes to whoever answers. A blocked drain or a dead hot water service is bought in the first sixty seconds. Second place gets nothing.
2Your best callers ring during work hours. Which is precisely when you cannot pick up. The phone is busiest when you are busiest.
3Quoting at night is not a business model. Evenings disappear into callbacks that should have happened at the time, half of which have gone cold.

Trading peaks

Your busiest weeks are your worst answering weeks

Contract work arrives in waves. A cold snap, a wet fortnight, the run into Christmas. Demand spikes while you are already booked out, which is when calls stop being answered entirely.

The AI agent does not care how busy your week is. It answers everything, books what fits, and puts the rest on a waiting list you can work through instead of a voicemail box you dread.

Your phone should know who is calling before you do

VOCPhone connects to more than a thousand apps and offers open APIs, so a call arrives with a customer attached to it rather than just a number.

Screen pops before you say hello

The caller's name, their history and their open job appear as it rings, so you open with their name instead of asking who is calling.

Click to call from the record

Ring a customer straight from your job management or accounting system without typing a number, and every call logs itself against the right file.

Notes that write themselves

Recording, transcript, AI summary and next action land in your CRM. Untimed HD video for up to 30 people is included when a call needs faces.

Why VOCPhone

One provider, one network, one bill

Most providers sell you a phone system that runs on infrastructure they rent. We built ours, which changes what we can promise.

We own the network

Not a reseller reselling somebody else's switch. VOCPhone owns and operates its own Australian network, which is why we can guarantee 99.99% uptime and fix things ourselves.

Inbound and outbound agents trained on your business. They answer, qualify, book and escalate, in a genuine Australian accent, at any hour.

Desk, desktop and pocket

Apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, plus certified desk and cordless handsets. Untimed HD video for up to 30 people comes with it.

Australian, and answerable

Australian owned, Australian hosted, 24/7 human support, 15+ years in this market, and a price-match guarantee if you find better.

Straight answers

The questions contractors ask us first

Can it actually book jobs, or just take messages?

It books. The agent holds real slots in your diary, quotes your standard call out and rates, and confirms by SMS while the caller is still on the phone. A booked job is worth enormously more than a message.

Where a job needs your judgement it gathers the detail and flags it, so the callback is short and informed.

Will it stop my phone ringing after hours?

Yes, on your terms. You set what counts as urgent. A burst pipe can still reach your mobile at 11pm while a quote enquiry gets booked politely for Tuesday.

Most contractors tell us this changes their life more than the extra work it wins.

I am a sole trader. Is this overkill?

It is the opposite. A sole trader has the worst version of this problem, because there is nobody else to pick up. Plans start at a single user and the AI agent does not need a second seat.

You also get a business phone identity rather than a personal mobile, which changes how larger clients treat you.

What happens when the AI cannot help?

It hands over, and you decide where. Disputes, safety issues and anything on a live job can go to a person, a queue, or a manager's mobile.

The caller does not repeat themselves either. Whoever picks up gets the context the agent already gathered. Outside hours it takes the details, texts a confirmation and queues the callback.

What difference does owning the network actually make?

Most providers resell somebody else's switch, which means when something breaks they raise a ticket with a wholesaler and wait, exactly like you would. VOCPhone built and runs its own Australian network, so we fix it ourselves.

It is also why we can put a number on uptime and offer a price match. There is no reseller margin stacked in the middle of your bill.

Do we have to change our phone number?

No. Number portability is standard, including 1300 and 1800, so the number on your ute, your cards and your online listings stays exactly as it is.

We port it across and plan the cutover around your hours, not ours.

What happens if the internet drops?

Calls keep flowing. The mobile app works over 4G and 5G, so your people answer on their handsets while a site connection is down, and flows can divert to mobiles automatically.

We also supply NBN, so the connection and the phone system can come from one provider on one bill. When it is all ours, there is nobody to point at.
